Here's where I lived for my first two years at Virginia Tech (the top floor):

Thomas Hall - "Home of the Gods" at Virginia Tech

"4th Floor Thomas Hall - Home of the Gods!" as we called it ...more pics on the next page.

There was something special about the mix of people that lived there...unlike most of my friends in other dorms, where they'd have their two or three friends on the hall, the group on "4-T" was one big family.  Even today, several of my closest friends are people that I met while living on 4-T.

A lot of great memories from the two years on that hall...  The daiquiri parties, "A&J's run", "BS&T run," the fall football classic, "quarters," hackey-sack, the water-pistol battles, "Up-the-River-Down-the-River," Bargerfest, penny-locking...the list goes on.  We dominated the Thomas Hall dorm_olympics both my freshman year (1985-1986) and my sophomore year (1986-1987).  Some great times!!

I've put together a list of everyone that I can remember living on the hall those two years, with a few pics associated, as well as their "last known address" as listed in the 1998 Virginia Tech alumni directory (and e-mail addresses, if known).  Also, Chris Headley (VT '91) has put up another "4th Floor Thomas hall" web site, which is definitely worth a look.  Chris lived on 4-T for 3 or 4 years, starting Fall '87 (the semester after I left), so his page has different coverage and many different people (although some overlap).

If any other 4-T alumni read this, please drop me an e-mail - it would be great to hear from you!!

For a little history...here's some info taken from VT's Residence Hall page on Thomas Hall:   The "Thomas Hall" dormitory was built in 1949 and then renovated in 1970. The hall is named after Sergeant Herbert J. Thomas (class of '41), who threw himself upon a grenade in World War II and was killed, saving the men in his squad, during World War II.  There's even more background information on Sgt. Thomas available here.

Believe it or not, but I stumbled on a floorplan of Thomas Hall...both small and large versions (One of these days I might get around to renumbering the rooms from 2nd floor to 4th...the floorplan is correct, though...just add 200 to each room #).
