At Devil's Tower National Monument in Wyoming, which was very impressive. The theory as to how it formed is that it was the site of an underground volcano whose magma crystallized. After millions of years, all the ground around it had eroded, leaving the tower by itself (due to the crystallized magma being harder to erode. I just know that it looks really cool. (8/19/2004)
