AK_Juneau-Mendenhall - 94

Cruise to Alaska on the "Serenade of the Seas" (Royal Caribbean). Taken on the fourth day of the cruise, while on the "Helicopter Glacier Trek" excursion, where we hiked for several hours on Mendenhall Glacier, where we were taken by helicopter. (09/09/2004) Another good picture for the sheer size of the glacier....can you find the group of people in the picture? Left to right, they're about 2/3 across the picture, centered vertically. Mendenhall Glacier is part of the Juneau ice field, which is estimated to vary between 800 and 4500 feet *DEEP*, depending on the locaion (that's almost a mile's depth of solid ice, folks!!!). Mendenhall Glacier is 11.9 miles long, as well.
