Cruise to Alaska on the "Serenade of the Seas" (Royal Caribbean). Taken on the fifth day of the cruise, while on the "Misty Fjords Wilderness Cruise and Flight" (cruise portion). This is the magmatic core of an extinct volcano. The rest of the volcano has eroded away, leaving the harder core as a "pillar" of sorts in the fjord. You can't see it in this shot, but there's a bald eagle perched at the top (visible in other shots). (09/10/2004)
