MO_Independence - 23

The Jackson County Marshal's House and Jail Museum. Built in 1859, these buildings served as U.S. Provost Marshal's headquarters during the Civil War. Frank James (outlaw, brother of Jesse), and William C. Quantrill (border war guerilla) were jailed here. In use until 1933. (8/11/2004) This is the 'living room' or parlor of the Marshal's house, which was attached to the jail.
