CA_LavaBedsNP-LavaFlow - 3

In Lava Beds National Monument (Northern California), this is the "Devil's Homestead Lava Flow," which is where an eruption of magma from the bottom of the earth's crust sent a broad stream of liquid rock across this land (for several miles). When the eruption stopped, the lava cooled and hardened into its present form. (09/29/2004)
