In San Rafael, California, this is the "Mission San Rafael Archangel," which was founded in 1817 by Padre Vicente Sarria as an adjunct to Mission Dolores, but raised to full mission status in 1822. The buildings were destroyed at one point to make room for the growing pueblo of San Rafael, but a small chapel was built in 1861 near the ruins of the original one, and was fully rebuilt in 1949.
